![]() During the years my databases grow into ~20GB size and the biggest one has 10GB document. I have used DEVONthink for ~5 years and decided to stop a month ago.ĭEVONthink was a good choice back in 2016, but now I find it not a good choice compare to iCloud Drive & Notion & Goodnote. Despite all my criticism above, I hope you'll find DT and its companion tools helpful! So download it, set aside some time every other day to test it, make lots of notes, get lots of sample documents for the test (classification starts being fun around the 150 document mark, don't play with just 10) and talk to people on their forums, which are quite helpful. However, be aware that the time is counted as long as the app is running - which includes components like the "sorter" being active! I forgot that when, during my trial period, I set the sorter to be automatically launched during startup and to auto-hide. You should definitely take advantage of the very generous trial period that DEVONtechnologies offer. The DT ecosystem has great OCR for scanned documents, but no handwriting recognition.Again, since macOS does not provide a components for it, there is no "creative" document entry possible - think mind maps, directly editable in DT, or customizable forms. This is not really a problem with DT per se, but rather a problem of relying on the underlying APIs and components of the host OS too much. ![]() This defeats the purpose of a web archive completely: You can't use them offline, say in DEVONthink To Go, and should the source website decide to throw an error on the URL you captured, you won't easily be able to read the archive any more.
